So far so good!

Postby JessykaRichard on Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:19 am

While I'm waiting for my inventory to finish loading, I've been poking around at some stuff.

I'm using Windows and my viewer took a good minute or so to start up the first time. It was clearing my cache. Second time loading it was snappy, so no biggie. I assume since it has to download textures differently than the official viewer does it has to re-cache stuff?

Even though voice isn't possible right now, is it possible to have some sort of functionality that interacts with the 'Enable lip-sync' option? People are starting to discover it's uses for taking pictures of avatar mouths in more natural open positions.

Other than that, YAY MY PRIMS DON'T DISAPPEAR ANYMORE!!! :D

Edit: Okay, I'll just keep editing this post with my issues. :3

I enjoy watching the console window, but changing the debug setting to turn it off doesn't seem to be working. It still pops up. :[

Right click > New Folder is doing some weird stuff. Instead of bringing me right to the new folder to rename it, it takes me to an item a few lines above it and has me try and rename it instead. It does create the new folder, though. This happened twice in a row, but I haven't been able to get it to happen again. :/

O NO A PRIM IS DISAPPEARING!!

I love all the new features, and it seems very stable!

I'm a huge fan of the new Silver skin that LL introduced to the viewer, and so I put that on straight away with Imprudence, only problem is.. it's missing some of the awesome features!

Prim Cut at 0.025 is not available in Silver
Set Transparancy to 100% is not available in Silver
Landscape editor size dropdown menu is shown on every build tab, often laying over other important buttons!

Little problem after the installation. After installing Imprudence, and clicking the Start Imprudence checkbox, it fails to start it and complains:

Unable to execute file:
c:\Program Files (x86)\Imprudence\Imprudence.lnk

CreateProcess failed: code 193.
%1 is not a valid Win32 Application.

After installation, Imprudence detects my system language as french? FAIL. I would surely suggest a new feature, namely putting a language drop down in the lower login toolbar for more usability.

Ah, that'd 'splain it then Damien. I set my skin to Silver before even logging in once and couldn't see some of the new features. I'll go back to the default for now. Thanks for the heads up.

Also nothing major but when I installed (Windows XP, English, Version: 5.1.2600, Service Pack: 3.0 ) it would not auto load the viewer as part of the install... got an error message... BUT I could load it via the start menu short cut so all is well. Some people might panic if they see an error message before they start.

I don't ever install desktop icons. I don't think this should make a difference as it was looking for the short cut in the programs folder but... *shrugs* ... just in case.

Yeah got the same thing Moggs, seems minor.

I have one annoyance I would consider major, tho I guess it could be considered "normal" behaviour relatively to the storage of config files within the SL viewer. I noticed that after trying up Imprudence, I tried executing my good old faithful 1.19.1.4 and ended up with a completely wiped up configuration, like if i had just installed 1.19.1.4 from a brand new configuration.

Is it possible that installing Imprudence overwrites the regular or old viewer's config files?

Thanks

In Windows Vista: First time tried to launch after install got error message I missed and failed. But next time worked fine. Will keep you posted.

On 17" MacBookPro with latest OS: Freezes (just like standard SL client) when trying to save image to disk over 1920X1200 which is my screen resolution. I'll try running the Windows version on Bootcamp Windows XP tomorrow.

IIRC, this is an issue with the 1.19.1.4 viewer, and was fixed in one of the 1.20 RCs. If it happens for 1.20.17 as well, then it might be Imprudence doing something it shouldn't.

On Ubuntu 8.04:

That new font takes 2 seconds to get used to,then it's more readable and better looking
Camera never stays in altcam mode after releasing buttons (something that used to drive me nuts)
It closes significantly quicker (used to take me two minutes with LL's viewer)

Add grid chooser as new feature on release notes, please.

Great work, everybody. Thanks.
